From NPU to the World: Celebrating Our Outstanding International PhD Graduates
At Northwestern Polytechnical University, graduation is not only the completion of a degree. It is the result of years of discipline, research, persistence, and personal growth. This year, a total of five doctoral students stood out and were named outstanding graduates.These students were selected after careful consideration of their academic records, research achievements, resumes, interviews, and overall contributions during their time at NPU. Their stories represent more than individual success. They reflect the spirit of international education, the strength of cross-cultural learning, and the global vision of NPU.
在西北工业大学,毕业不仅仅意味着获得学位,更是多年刻苦学习、科研探索、坚持不懈和个人成长的结晶。今年,共有五名博士生脱颖而出,被评为优秀毕业生。这些学生是经过对其学术记录、研究成果、个人简历、面试表现以及在西北工业大学期间的整体贡献进行严格评估后选出的。他们的故事不仅代表着个人的成功,更体现了国际教育的精神、跨文化学习的优势以及西北工业大学的全球视野。
From applied mathematics and radar signal processing to aerospace engineering, combustion chemistry, computational fluid dynamics, impact mechanics, and intelligent modeling, these outstanding PhD graduates have contributed to meaningful research across different fields. More importantly, they have carried with them the values of curiosity, resilience, collaboration, and dedication.
从应用数学、雷达信号处理到航空航天工程、燃烧化学、计算流体力学、冲击力学及智能建模,这些杰出的博士毕业生在多个领域开展了具有重要意义的研究。更重要的是,他们践行了求知欲、韧性、协作与奉献的价值观。

Muhammad Ashfaq:笃行坚守,探知求索,在应用数学领域深耕精进
Muhammad Ashfaq: Advancing Applied Mathematics Through Persistence and Discovery

Muhammad Ashfaq, from Pakistan, completed his PhD in Applied Mathematics at Northwestern Polytechnical University and was recognized as an Outstanding Graduate Student for his academic excellence and research contributions. His doctoral research focused on cilia-induced flow in straight and curved passages, with emphasis on heat transfer analysis and magnetohydrodynamic effects. During his PhD, he published eleven articles in high-impact international Q1 journals, covering topics such as non-Newtonian fluids, thermal analysis, biomedical fluid mechanics, and magnetized curved channels. Before joining NPU, he served as a faculty member and head of the mathematics department at Radiant College Nankana Sahib in Pakistan, where he received the Best Teacher Award. After completing his PhD, he continued his academic journey as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Aeronautics, NPU. His story reflects perseverance, academic dedication, and a strong passion for scientific discovery.
巴基斯坦籍学生Muhammad Ashfa在西北工业大学圆满完成学业并取得应用数学博士学位。攻读博士学位期间,他的研究聚焦于直管与弯管中的纤毛诱导流动,深入探究其传热规律与磁流体动力学效应。他在国际高影响力 Q1 区期刊发表论文 11 篇,研究范畴涵盖非牛顿流体、热分析、生物流体力学、磁化弯曲通道等多个前沿方向。来到西北工业大学求学之前,他曾在巴基斯坦任教,并获评最佳教师。博士学业圆满完成后,他继续留校深耕学术,于西北工业大学航空学院开展博士后研究工作,继续在科研道路上笃行求索。他的求学与治学历程,尽显坚韧笃行的品格、潜心治学的坚守,以及对科学探索的无限热忱。

Moin Akhtar:在智能雷达系统与先进信号处理领域深入求索
Moin Akhtar: Exploring Intelligent Radar Systems and Advanced Signal Processing

Moin Akhtar, from Pakistan, completed his PhD in Information and Communication Engineering at Northwestern Polytechnical University. His research focused on radar target detection, especially the application of deep learning and intelligent signal processing techniques in advanced radar systems. During his studies, he published journal and conference papers related to his research and actively participated in academic conferences organized by different universities and institutions. In recognition of his academic performance and research contributions, he received the Best Student of the Year Award in 2024 and was also honored as an Outstanding Graduate. Beyond academics, his time at NPU helped him grow personally and professionally through research, teamwork, cultural exchange, and international friendship. After graduation, he continued his academic journey by starting postdoctoral research at NPU.
巴基斯坦籍学生Moin Akhtar在西北工业大学圆满完成学业并取得信息与通信工程博士学位。他的科研工作以雷达目标检测为核心,重点探究深度学习与智能信号处理技术在先进雷达系统中的应用。博士期间,他发表了多篇相关期刊及会议论文,并积极参与不同高校与科研机构举办的各类学术会议,学术积累扎实、实践经验丰富。凭借优异的学业表现与卓越的科研成果,他获得2024年度优秀学生荣誉,此次被评为优秀毕业生。在西北工业大学的求学经历,不仅通过科研实践、团队协作、跨文化交流与国际交往助力其专业能力的提升,更深化了其个人成长。博士毕业后,他继续在西北工业大学开展博士后研究工作,延续学术探索之路。

Frederick Nii Ofei Bruce:从加纳走向全球,追求卓越
Frederick Nii Ofei Bruce: From Ghana to Global Research Excellence

Frederick Nii Ofei Bruce, from Ghana, completed his PhD in Aerospace and Astronautical Engineering at Northwestern Polytechnical University. His research focused on combustion kinetics, quantum chemistry, and machine learning, particularly the reaction mechanisms and thermochemical properties of phosphorus- and nitrogen-containing compounds. He published multiple SCI-indexed papers as first author and contributed to high-impact journals such as Fuel, ACS Omega, Journal of Physical Chemistry A, and Combustion and Flame. His achievements were recognized through several honors, including the NPU Academic Star Award, CSC Academic Star Scholar, the “Study in China” National Award, and Best Oral Presentation Award. Beyond research, he served as a Student Ambassador, Campus Guide, and President of the National Union of Ghanaian Students in Xi’an. After graduation, he will join Quantum BioTek Inc. as a Computational Data Scientist and AI Researcher.
加纳籍学生Frederick Nii Ofei Bruce在西北工业大学圆满完成学业并取得航空航天工程博士学位。他的科研工作聚焦于燃烧动力学、量子化学与机器学习领域,重点探究含磷含氮化合物的反应机理及热化学特性。博士期间,他作为第一作者发表了多篇SCI论文,并为Fuel、ACS Omega、Journal of Physical Chemistry A及Combustion and Flame等高影响力期刊撰稿。他的学术成果使他斩获多项荣誉,包括西北工业大学“学术之星”、国家留学基金委(CSC)“学术之星”、“留学中国”国家奖学金以及学术报告最佳展示奖。除了科研工作之外,他还担任留学生大使、校园向导以及西安加纳学生联合会主席。博士毕业后,他以计算数据科学家和人工智能研究员身份入职 Quantum BioTek Inc.(量子生物科技公司)。

Qadeer Raza:构建面向流体动力学与传热学的智能计算模型
Qadeer Raza: Building Intelligent Computational Models for Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer

Qadeer Raza, from Pakistan, completed his PhD in Applied Mathematics at the School of Mathematics and Statistics, Northwestern Polytechnical University, and was honored as an Outstanding Graduate. His research focuses on computational fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer, nanofluid flow modeling, and advanced numerical simulations. He combines mathematical modeling with finite element methods, finite difference methods, artificial neural networks, graph neural networks, and machine learning-assisted computational techniques. To date, he has published more than 45 research papers in internationally recognized journals, with over 731 Google Scholar citations, an h-index of 16, and two highly cited papers. He has also received several honors, including the Best Paper of the Year Award, Academic Star Trophy, and Shaanxi Province Postgraduate Innovation Achievement Awards. After graduation, he continued his research as a Special Postdoctoral Researcher at NPU.
巴基斯坦籍学生Qadeer Raza在西北工业大学数学与统计学院圆满完成学业,取得了应用数学博士学位,并被评为优秀毕业生。他的学术研究聚焦于计算流体动力学、传热传质、纳米流体流动建模及高级数值模拟领域。他创新性地将数学建模与有限元方法、有限差分方法等数值技术深度融合,同时探索人工神经网络、图神经网络及机器学习辅助计算技术的前沿应用。目前,他已在国际知名期刊发表研究论文45篇以上,谷歌学术被引量超731次,并拥有两篇高被引论文。同时,其学术成果获 “年度最佳论文奖”、“学术之星奖”及“陕西省研究生创新成果奖” 多项荣誉认可。博士毕业后,他在西北工业大学担任特别博士后研究员,深入开展科研工作。 
Irfan Ali:构建基于力学原理与智能建模的防护结构强化方法
Irfan Ali: Strengthening Protective Structures Through Mechanics and Intelligent Modeling

Irfan Ali, from Pakistan, completed his PhD in Mechanics and Transportation Engineering at Northwestern Polytechnical University, majoring in Mechanics. His research focused on the multiscale impact mechanics of reinforced concrete structures under extreme dynamic loading, including penetration resistance, damage evolution, energy dissipation, and vulnerability assessment. His work combines finite element simulation, mesoscale modeling, probabilistic modeling, Bayesian uncertainty analysis, and physics-guided machine learning to improve the design of protective concrete structures. He has published and prepared research papers in high-impact journals such as Construction and Building Materials, Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Defence Technology, and International Journal of Impact Engineering. He also received several academic honors, including awards from the Shaanxi Provincial Graduate Student Innovation Achievement Exhibition and the Belt and Road Forum. After graduation, he began postdoctoral research at Guangzhou University.
巴基斯坦籍学生Irfan Ali在西北工业大学圆满完成学业并取得力学与交通工程专业博士学位,主修力学方向。其研究聚焦于极端动态载荷下钢筋混凝土结构的多尺度冲击力学行为,系统探究了抗侵彻性能、损伤演化机制、能量耗散规律及结构脆弱性评估等关键问题。他通过融合有限元模拟、中尺度建模、概率建模、贝叶斯不确定性分析与物理信息机器学习,优化了防护混凝土结构的设计方法。目前,他已在Construction and Building Materials、Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence、Defence Technology及International Journal of Impact Engineering等高影响力期刊发表、投稿多篇论文,并在陕西省研究生创新成果展及“一带一路”学术论坛中获得荣誉。博士毕业后,他于广州大学开展博士后科研工作。

Although these five graduates come from different countries, disciplines, and research backgrounds, their stories share a common foundation: dedication, discipline, and the courage to keep moving forward.
尽管这五位毕业生来自不同的国家、拥有不同的学科背景、专注于各自的研究领域,但他们的成长故事始终扎根于同一片沃土:对学术的赤诚、治学的严谨,以及永不止步的探索勇气。
They came to NPU as international students with different dreams. During their years in China, they became researchers, leaders, mentors, collaborators, and representatives of global academic exchange. Their achievements in journals, conferences, laboratories, classrooms, and student communities reflect the strength of NPU’s international education environment.
他们怀揣各异的梦想远赴西工大求学。在留学工大的岁月里,他们逐渐成长为科研工作者、学术引领者、青年导师、跨文化合作者,也是全球学术交流的先锋。不论是在学术期刊、国际会议,还是在实验室、课堂与学生社团,他们的成就生动诠释了西北工业大学国际教育环境的深厚底蕴。
Their graduation and recognition as Outstanding Graduates are not simply personal milestones. They are also a reflection of the academic atmosphere, research support, and international vision of Northwestern Polytechnical University.

Their stories remind us that outstanding graduates are not defined only by awards or publications.
