School of Mechanical Engineering


机电学院历史悠久,源于北洋大学、浙江大学、交通大学和中央大学等当时众多著名高等学府的机械与航空制造等相关学科,汇集了南北两大工科学脉。在八十余年的发展历程中,已为国防科技工业和国民经济建设培养输送了众多领军人物和科技人才。学院承担了大批国家重要科研项目,重大科技成果突出。“十一五”以来,获得国家科学技术奖8项。学院依托一流学科优势资源,始终贯彻“厚基础、宽口径、重实践、求创新”人才培养理念,立足服务国家航空、航天及其他领域高端装备研制重大需求,培养德智体美劳全面发展,具有国际化视野、掌握智能制造多学科知识,在机械工程等领域引领未来发展的领军人才。



Originated from Beiyang University, Zhejiang University, Jiaotong University and Central Univeristy,School of Mechanical Engineering has a long history, which brings together Northern and Southern engineering faculties at the same time. During the 80 years progress, School of Mechanical Engineering has cultivated many leading scholars and technical scientists of the Science and Technology Industry for National Defense as well as national economic construction.

Famous professors have taught here, such as Pan Chengxiao, Yang Pengji, Jiang Changying, Li Shouxuan, Peng Yanwu, Zhou Guangcheng, Pu Lianggui and Sun Heng. A group of academicians of outstanding reputation also came from here, such as Shi Shaoxi, Chen Bingcong, Fu Hengzhi and Tang Changhong. Meanwhile, there are senior political and military officials such as Zeng Shenda, Ma Zhongping, Hao Peng and Mi Dong; well-known private entrepreneurs such as Wu Changjiang, Yu Fei; as well as more than 80 chief designers of National Defense enterprises and institutions such as Wu Weiren, Yang Haicheng, Tang Jun.

In past five years, the School has achieved much in innovation research with more than 700 programs, including NSFC, 973, 863 and National Support Schemes. The amount of research funding increases year by year. The School has achieved 30 Provincial and Ministerial Awards for Scientific Progress. In recent years, the school has earned five national awards, including three for Technological Invention and two for Science and Technology Progress. One of them was ultimately selected as “China’s top ten scientific and technological progress in higher education” in 2006. More than 1300 patents have been applied and 900 patents have been authorized, including 300 patents for invention. 10 academic monographs have been published.

机械工程是一门应用物理和材料科学原理对机械系统进行分析、设计、制造和维护的工程学科。它以自然科学和技术科学为理论基础,结合生产实践的技术经验,专注于复杂航空航天产品的研发。机械工程知识可应用于汽车、飞机、建筑、工业仪表、发动机等多个层次。
该学科涉及利用物理定律为分析、设计和生产机械系统提供支持。它要求学生深入理解应用力学、热学和其他基本科学原理,利用这些原理分析静态和动态材料系统,创建和设计实用装置、设备、仪器、工具等。此外,要求学生将自动化技术和信息技术与机械设备和系统相结合,形成一系列先进的制造技术,推动传统的加工操作和制造管理系统优化实现质的飞跃。


Mechanical Engineering is a discipline of engineering that applies the principles of physics and materials science for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is based theoretically in nature science and technology science, combining the technology experience of production practice, and focused on the research and development of complex aerospace products. The knowledge of mechanical engineering can be used in automobile, aircraft, architecture, industrial instrument, engine and other levels.
The discipline involves in offering support to analyze, design and produce mechanical system by using the laws of physics. It requires students to deeply understand applied mechanics, thermology and other basic scientific principles, using which to analyze static and dynamic material system, create and design practical device, equipment, instrument, tools, etc,. Besides, students are required to combine automatic technology and information technology with mechanical equipment and system in order to form a series of advanced manufacturing technology, promoting the traditional machining operation and Manufacturing management system optimization in a qualitative leap forward.
